Consultancy

I must admit to not feeling quite grown up enough to call myself a 'consultant'. But then someone whose judgement is usually spot on regarding this kind of work said to me that consultancy is really just about hiring out the skills you have picked up through your life to organisations that don't have access to those skills within their own teams. Which made me feel a bit better about it.

Anyway, consultancy for your organisation may mean getting me to examine a funding application and critically appraise it. Or it may mean to use me to look, as a totally objective outside observer, at the way your organisation deals with certain processes. It may mean getting me to produce a written piece of work. Or it may be to help you find out what your team thinks of the way you run things.

There are many demands on organisations and sometimes it is easier to get some outside help to resolve issues that are not an immediate priority but are definitely needing attention. The sort of issues that cause niggling unrest of any kind, but you just don't get round to sorting out.

I have been fortunate over the years to have gained a great deal of useful experience in the public and voluntary sectors, managing large and small teams and working with people in other organisations at all levels, from cleaners* through to government ministers. It may be that I have experience that's relevant to issues your team or organisation need to get sorted out, or pieces of work that are one-offs and not really worth recruiting someone into post to get done. So give me a call (07944 420321) or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it me if you think I may be able to help.

*This comment is not about worth, it's about the difference between operational issues and strategic ones. I feel that cleaners do one of the most important jobs in society, but get treated as though they are invisible, which is a whole other situation that needs sorting...
